Your 14-day trial

Every new GarageHQ organisation starts with a 14-day trial. No card required at signup. Here's exactly what's included and what isn't.

What's unlocked

During the trial you get full Garage+-level feature access:

Unlimited vehicles.
Multi-user invites with role-based access.
Service history and mileage tracking.
Email reminders for MOT, tax, and insurance.
Parts finder from MOT advisories.
Bulk CSV vehicle import.
Organisation-wide compliance dashboard.
Calendar appointment invites.

You can run the product exactly as a Garage+ subscriber would for the full 14 days.

What's charged per check

History checks during the trial are pay-as-you-go at £13.99 per check, the same price a guest would pay. The trial unlocks features, not the per-check discount.

If you want the discounted per-check rate before day 14, subscribe any time. From the moment your subscription is active, every subsequent check drops to your plan's rate (£9.99 on Personal, £6.99 on Garage, £4.99 on Garage+). Checks you already paid for at £13.99 aren't refunded, but see conversion credit for how we apply the difference to your first month.

Day 1: where you land

Straight after signup you're on the dashboard with an empty vehicle list. A persistent trial banner at the top of the app counts down the days remaining:

8+ days left: calm grey banner.
3-7 days left: amber banner.
1-2 days left: rose banner.

The banner is dismissible for the session (not permanently) except on the final day and when the trial has lapsed.

Day 14: what happens at expiry

If you don't subscribe or add a card before the trial ends, the account moves to an expired state:

You can still log in.
The expiry banner becomes non-dismissible, with a Subscribe now CTA.
Read-only features (viewing vehicles, MOT records, past checks) remain accessible.
Write features (adding a vehicle, running a check, inviting a user) are blocked with a 403 and a prompt to subscribe.

Your data is kept for 90 days after expiry. Subscribe within that window and everything reappears exactly as you left it. After 90 days the organisation and its data are deleted.

How to subscribe

At any point during or after the trial, head to Settings → Billing. You'll see three plan cards. Click one to open Stripe Checkout; when the checkout succeeds the webhook flips your status to active and the matching plan's per-check rate applies from that point on.

If you'd prefer to just add a card without committing to a plan (to make sure you can run a £13.99 pay-as-you-go check when the trial ends), click Add a payment method on the same page. That routes through the Stripe Billing Portal.

What the trial doesn't give you

It doesn't give you free history checks (as above).
It doesn't count as the full Garage+ plan for billing-side integrations (you don't show up in Stripe as a paying customer until you subscribe).
It doesn't auto-convert to a paid plan. No card, no surprise charge.

That's deliberate. The trial is a "try the features, pay when you're ready" offer.
